Oregon Restaurant Association Sponsors Successful Taste of the Nation Event
[Wilsonville, OR] - On April 28, more than 1,000 guests enjoyed the fare of some of Oregon's finest food and beverage establishments while raising hundreds of thousands of dollars in the fight against hunger. More than 70 restaurants and 40 breweries and wineries participated in the 21st annual Taste of the Nation Portland event, offering an eclectic array of mouth-watering samples such as asparagus frittata with herb salad and crème fraîche, Dungeness crab beignets, and artisan bread sautéed in foie gras butter with honey. The Oregon Restaurant Association, a local presenting sponsor, was thrilled with the event’s success.
Two regional representatives from the Oregon Restaurant Association were in attendance, meeting and mingling with restaurant owners and operators. Greg Schultz, ORA’s Portland Metro representative, felt the event was meticulously organized and beautifully presented.
“This event was incredible…food, beer, wine, and music, all for a good cause,” said Schultz. “I was amazed at how well everyone displayed their fare. All the establishments had their own flair for the aesthetic.”
As local presenting sponsor of Taste of the Nation Portland for more than 10 years, ORA continues the restaurant industry’s support to Share Our Strength, an organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America.
“We’re proud to be an active part of Taste of the Nation Portland,” said Steve McCoid, president and CEO of ORA. “The event’s success reflects the dedication the Oregon restaurant industry has to helping end hunger and giving back to their communities.”
Four Oregon hunger relief agencies will receive the majority of all proceeds from this year's Taste of the Nation Portland. These agencies– Oregon Food Bank, Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank, St. Vincent de Paul Food Recovery Program, and The Oregon Hunger Relief Task Force – are core to the ongoing efforts of agencies statewide that are helping to address hunger through emergency food assistance, summer food programs for children, and more.
